Eminent personality of Magura district

Poet Farrukh Ahmad

Poet Farrukh Ahmad was born on 10 June 1918 in the village of Majh-Ail under Sadar upazila of present Magura district of Greater Jessore district in the famous Syed family. He passed away on October 29, 1984 at the age of 56. His books of poetry - Saat Sagarer Majhi, Sirajum Munira, Naufel and Hatem, Hatem Tayi - Moment of the Moment, The Story of Habeda Maru. Poems and rhymes for children: - Rhymes of font, bird's nest, rhyme hall, zoo etc. He received recognition and awards from the government and various organizations in recognition of his literary work. In 1981, he won the President's Award, the Pride of Performance Award, the 1986 Arsmaji Award and the UNESCO Award. In 1960 he received the Bangla Academy Award for Poetry and was elected a Fellow of the Bangla Academy.

Dr. Lutfar Rahman

The author was born in 189 at his uncle's house in Parnanduali village near Magura town. He died of tuberculosis in 1937 at the age of 46. Journalist and literary martyr Sirajuddin Hossain

Shahid Siraj Uddin was born on 1 March 1929 in the village of Sharushna in Shalikha upazila of Magura district. He was martyred on 10 December 1971 at the hands of anti-independence forces. In 1954, he became the news editor and later the executive editor of the daily Ittefaq. Syed Ali Ahsan

Syed Ali Ahsan was born in 1922 in the village of Alokdia in Magura district to an aristocratic Muslim family. His published book of poems "Chahar Darbesh" is written on the basis of literature. He has published many books of poetry such as Akash, Ekak Sandhya Basant, Sahasa Sachakit and Uchcharan. ‘Adhunik Kavya Chetna’ and ‘Mohammad Moniruzzaman’s Poems’ were published in 1986. He has translated some foreign poems and plays. ‘Oedipus’, ‘Whitman’s Poems’, ‘Iqbal’s Poems’, ‘Evangel’s Poems’, Meredith’s Poems, Love Poems etc. Nazrul Islam, the poet Madhusudan, has written critical books on poetry and other considerations, Madhusudan poetic works and philosophies, the context of modern Bengali poetry, the role of Rabindra in judging poetry, etc. Edited books like 'Padmavati' and 'Madhumalati' etc.

Poet Kader Newaz

The poet was born in 1909 in the village of Mangalkort in the Burdwan district of West Bengal. He settled in Sarangdia village of Sreepur upazila in 1952 and died there. Syeda Sufia Khatun (Sahitya Ratna)

Syeda Sufia Khatun was born in 1926 in the city of Magura. He gave a manuscript to the poet Golam Mostafa to publish a collection of his stories published in various periodicals. Shortly afterwards, the poet Golam Mostafa died. Syeda Sufia never got her manuscript back. As a result, his hopes were dashed. Another of his unpublished books is called "Dream Shadow". The Abalakanta Majumdar Sahitya Parishad of Jessore conferred the title of Sahitya Ratna on Syeda Sufia Khatun in recognition of her literary work.

Sheikh Habibur Rahman Sahitya Ratna

Sheikh Habibur Rahman Sahityaratna was born in 1894 in the village of Ghoshgati under the present Magura district of the then Jessore district. Flute, Gulshan etc. He also translated Persian poet Sheikh Saadi's 'Gulista' and 'Busta'. Apart from this, he has also written prolific works like Algiya, Karmabir Munshi Meher Ullah, Emperor Babar of India, Travel Story of Beautiful Forest, Preaching Islam in Malabar, Dabrul Mukhtar, My Literary Life etc. For teenage readers, he has written fairy tales, After Death, Children's Moses, Laughter Stories, Shraddha of the Ghost Father, Satan's Meeting and Sheikh Saadi's biography "Hayat Saadi". He was the founder of Parijat Sahitya Kutir in Calcutta. Professor Suniti Kumar Chatterjee and poet Kumud Ranjan Malik were his close friends. He was a socially compassionate writer.
